The Sooners on SI 2025 report card series wraps up today by taking a look at the performance of OU's coaching staff.

Head coach Brent Venables closed the season with the Oklahoma Sooners with a first-round College Football Playoff loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide, a 34-24 defeat that eliminated them and left the program confronting an offseason of roster turnover.

In 2024, Oklahoma forced three turnovers, one of which was returned for a touchdown by linebacker Kip Lewis. The Sooners had one turnover of their own. The Sooners won the turnover battle again in 2025, forcing three turnovers while committing none themselves. Oklahoma had another pick-six, this time by defensive back Eli Bowen.

Brent Venables and the Oklahoma Sooners had an incredible bounce-back season in 2025. In 2024, during their first year in the SEC, things did not go well as they finished with a record of 6-7.
