Alabama women's basketball got off to a slow start but then cruised to an upset win over top-ten ranked Kentucky at home on Thursday.

Alabama’s defense overwhelmed No. 6 Kentucky on Thursday night, handing the Wildcats their first SEC loss of the season with a final score of 64–51 at Coleman Coliseum.

The Tigers, previously 0-9 all-time at Rupp Arena, took advantage of a struggling Kentucky Wildcats squad for a 73-68 upset win. The Wildcats had the momentum going into halftime, riding a buzzer-beating half-court shot by Otega Oweh that followed an Anthony Robinson turnover.

Alabama led by as many as 21 points in the first half Saturday, but the Kentucky Wildcats should get some credit for scrapping their way back to make it a nine-point game on two occasions in the second half before falling by a final score of 89-74.
