Donovan Mitchell scored 28 points and dished out eight assists and Jarrett Allen had 16 points and 11 rebounds as the Cleveland Cavaliers pulled away for a 146-134 victory over the visiting Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday afternoon.

The final game of the NBA Christmas Day slate was the best. The host Denver Nuggets outlasted the Minnesota Timberwolves 142-138 in overtime, thanks to another brilliant performance by Nikola Jokic. The three-time MVP scored 56 points, pulled down 16 rebounds and dished out 15 assists. Jamal Murray added 35 points for Denver.

Jalen Johnson scored 34 points and the Atlanta Hawks overcame Anthony Edwards’ 30 points for Minnesota to beat the Timberwolves 126-102 and end a seven-game losing streak.

Julius Randle scored 28 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and dished eight assists, and the Minnesota Timberwolves held on for a 131-122 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday night in Minneapolis.

Other players needed to step up. Jaren Jackson Jr. and Jock Landale took over: Both frontcourt players recorded their first double-doubles of the season in the win against the Timberwolves. Jackson led the Grizzlies (13-14) with 28 points and 11 rebounds. Landale added 20 points and 10 rebounds.

Anthony Edwards scored 35 points, Julius Randle added 22, and the Minnesota Timberwolves completed a season sweep of the Washington Wizards with a 141-115 rout.
