Russian athletes at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics will not be able to represent their country even if a peace deal is reached with Ukraine, International Olympic Committee President Kirsty Coventry said in an Italian newspaper interview.

Sweden unveiled its roster for the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 on Friday, naming a group that will try to bring the country its first gold medal since 2006 in Turin.

The closing ceremony will take place on Sunday, February 22, 2026 at the Verona Olympic Arena. There are also five events that day: the final two heats of 4-man bobsleigh, women's 50km cross-country skiing, and the gold medal games for both women's curling and men's ice hockey.

Last month, Minnesota general manager Bill Guerin chose Quinn Hughes, bringing the star defenseman to the Wild in an effort to produce big wins in May and even June. On Friday, in his role as Team USA’s general manager for the upcoming 2026 Winter Olympics, Guerin chose Hughes again.

The general manager of the U.S. Olympic men’s ice hockey team is counting on the chemistry his squad showed in reaching the 4 Nations Face-Off final to provide the missing ingredient for ending the team’s decades-long gold medal drought at next month’s Milano-Cortina Olympics.

Minnesota teammates Joel Eriksson Ek and Jonas Brodin were also named to the team.

Casey Dawson has secured a spot in the men’s 5,000 meters in long track speedskating at the Milan Cortina Winter Games by winning that event at the U.S. Olympic trials.
